It can be recalled that least 2,000 farmers from various farmers’ associations (FA), irrigators’ associations (IA) and agriculture and fishery councils (AFC) all-over the country witnessed the Makina Saka 2012, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City last July 4-7 last year. President Benigno Simeon Aquino III was the guest of honor.
This year, the road shows are replicated in three venues in a series of events for the three major island groups. For Luzon, it will be held on September 30 to October 4, 2013, at the Capitol Grounds, Lingayen, Pangasinan. It will be attended by irrigators associations, local extension workers, machine enthusiasts and local government units from Regions CAR, 1,2,3,4a,4b and 5.
The second of the series will be held at Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu City on October 21-25, 2013 to be attended by the same group of participants from Regions 6,7 and 8. The last leg of the MakinaSaka2013 will culminate in Cagayan de Oro City on November 11-15, 2013 to be attended by Regions 9, 10, 11,12, CARAGA and ARMM.
MakinaSaka 2013 aims to gather the latest agricultural machinery in the market to gear up the level of mechanization in the country in support to the Food Self-Sufficiency Program of the Department of Agriculture particularly the National Rice Program which has a Rice Mechanization component.
Farm machines like tractors, rice transplanters, reapers, state-of-the-art mechanical harvesters , multi-pass rice mills and other latest production and postproduction technologies will be showcased , displayed and demonstrated by members of the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers and Distributors Association, Inc. (AMMDA), other local farm equipment manufacturers, government institutions and DA agencies.
Makina Saka 2013 adopts the scheme of the successful Agri Mach 2011 roadshow that was organized by DA and PHilMech in Nueva Ecija, Iloilo and General Santos City.
