More farmer-leaders trained

Fourteen farmer-leaders from the CARAGA Region and 15 technical staff of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) participated in the last batch of the 'Training Course on Grains Postharvest Technology and Enterprise Development'.


Held on September 25-29, 2006 at Cha-li Beach Resort Cagayan De Oro City, the training was conducted by BPRE in collaboration with DAR Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (DAR-ARISP).


The participants were trained on the technical aspect of grains postharvest technology and enterprise development. As highlight of the training, the participants were able to prepare their business plans which are implementable in their respective cooperatives.


A monitoring, coaching and mentoring will be undertaken by BPRE and DAR-ARISP team three months after the training to see if the business plans prepared by the participants are implemented.


BPRE - Zone Director, in Mindanao, Raquel Bermundo, DAR-CARAGA regional executive director Felix B. Aguhob, BPRE- acting deputy executive director Rosendo S. Rapusas and Mr. Alejandro Otakon, DAR-CARAGA Asst. Regional Director were among the personalities present during the opening and closing program. They challenged the participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to carry on their business enterprises.
