Private firms both here and abroad and government institutions in the Philippines including the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE) join the 14th international agribusiness exhibition and seminar also known as Agrilink 2007 on October 4-6, 2007 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. The theme of the event is "Value-adding and market alliances to increase farm income".
BPRE will showcase postharvest technologies like the agricultural tramline, grain moisture meter, corn cob dyer, multi-commodity solar tunnel dryer, evaporative cooler and cashew nut sheller.
The agricultural tramline is an alternative means of hauling farmers' produce using cables and pulleys to transport products from inaccessible farms to the nearest road network. The grain moisture meter is a technology used to determine the moisture content of palay and corn. The evaporative cooler is a non-refrigerated storage system to prolong the shelf life of selected fruits and vegetables.
The affair which coincides with the Foodlink 2007 (8th international food processing, packaging and products exhibition), and Aqualink 2007 (3rd national fisheries exhibition and seminars) is hold annually.
Aside from postharvest facilities, other products on display include agricultural chemicals, cooling and storage facilities, dairy products, equipment and machinery, feeds and feed ingredients, fertilizers and pest management, food packaging, food processing, irrigation systems and a lot more.
The exhibits are open from 11 am to 6 pm and the seminars will be conducted on October 5-6 from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. This year's event is organized by the Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development, Inc. in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture.
