PHilMech turns over RPS I, other RCEF machines in Davao del Norte

The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) turned over Rice Processing System I to Gabuyan Irrigator's Service Association, Inc., in Kapalong Davao del Norte, under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund Mechanization Program.

This Php17.3 million facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art multi-stage rice mill (1.5 ton/hr) with pre-cleaner features, de-stoner, huller, mist polisher, length grader, color sorter, blending tank, and automatic packing machine. It also houses 2 recirculating dryers (6 tonne/hr), a generator set, two heating systems, tools, and accessories.

RPS hopes to reduce the postharvest losses and boost the livelihood of the cooperative which manages 154 hectares of rice field.

Along with this grant, a total of Php54.54 million worth of production machines and postharvest facilities were distributed to 33 FCAs and LGUs of Davao del Norte. These include 11 units of four-wheel tractors, 12 rice combine harvesters, 31 floating tillers, 13, PTO-driver disc plows, 11 walk-behind transplanters, 6 levee makers, 6 hand tractors, 5 single-pass rice mills and 2 recirculating dryers (6 ton).
