PHilMech R&D head receives Maramba Award

Dr. Manolito C. Bulaong, PHilMech R&D director, received the Maramba Award, the highest award and recognition given to a Filipino agricultural engineer in the recently concluded 62nd Annual Convention of Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers (PSAE) in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The ‘Maramba Award’ or the Most Outstanding Agricultural Engineer is given to outstanding professionals who had significant contributions in advancing the theory and practice of the Agricultural Engineering profession.

Dr. Bulaong is known for the development of technologies like Computer Vision for Milled Rice Quality Analysis, Multi-fuel Biomass Furnace, and Pneumatic Corn Planter. He was also named as the PSAE’s Outstanding Agricultural Engineer in the field of Farm Power and Machinery, and in the field of Postharvest and Energy Engineering in 2011 and 1997, respectively.

Likewise, Engr. Genaro M. Tolentino and Engr. Andres M. Tuates, Jr, were adjudged as Outstanding Agricultural Engineers in the field of Agricultural Extension, and Agricultural Instrumentation and Control, respectively.
