Agricultural tramline tows a line for Baungon, Bukidnon
(by Bezt Gee S. Magararu 2/10/2012)

The 130-meter long Agricultural Tramline System can carry 400 kilograms of produce.

"Operation Sagip Ani" brought an agricultural tramline system, to Baungon, Bukidnon to help the farmers save what was left of their crops after typhoon “Sendong”. Typhoon "Sendong" affected 1,695 hectares of crops of which about 30 hectares were flooded and were covered with mud and big stones. A total of 1,750 farmers were affected and the estimated cost of damage for Baungon alone was P26,969,966.

The typhoon as well left vital bridges like Kabula Bridge destroyed, and isolated Baungon to Cagayan de Oro, the market center of the region. Use of pump boats became the only way to cross the Cagayan de Oro River. Manual h ...Click to read more
