PHilMech harvests more awards

It is harvest time. The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) reaped more awards recently. Scientist, engineers, and Information Technology (IT) expert-- all employees of PHilMech garnered the awards and recognition from different award giving bodies.

Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, Scientist III and now PHilMech Executive Director received the 2017 Pest Management Award in Research given by the Pest Management Council of the Philippines, Inc. (PMCP). He received the award during the 49th PMCP Anniversary and Annual Scientific Conference held at the Crown Regency Resort and Convention Center in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan on May 12, 2017.

Engr. Andres M. Tuates Jr, Science Research Specialist of the Bio-Process Engineering Division, received the Outstanding Agricultural Engineer award ( under the Postharvest Technology, Agricultural Processing and Rural Electrification category) . The Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers (PSAE) gave the award during their 67th Annual National Convention on April 23-29, 2017 at the Convention Center of Legazpi City in Albay.

In the same occasion, Engr. Aldrin E. Badua , Supervising Science Research Specialist of PHilMech, was elected as Vice President of PSAE for 2017 to 2018.

Mr. Elito Circa, Information System Analyst II of PHilMech also received a prestigious award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), SM City, Shell Philippines, Philippine Star and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. Mr. Circa, also known as Amangpintor, has been recognized as Best Artist for Indigenouism Art, along with other famous artists in Nueva Ecija like Heber Bartolome. He received his award on May 16, 2017 at the SM in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija during the celebration of the Philippine Visual Arts. By Mila B. Gonzalez
