PHilMech researches top the 28th BAR-NRS

Two research papers of the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) bagged gold and bronze awards, both in paper and poster categories, in the 28th National Research Symposium (NRS) of the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR). The symposium was held last October 27, 2016 at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management Convention Hall, Diliman, Quezon City.

The “Development and Performance Evaluation of a Village Level Coconut Water Processing System” research by Dr. Ofero A. Caparino won a gold award in the Applied Research TA/TV - Agriculture Category. It also won bronze award for Best R&D Poster.

On the other hand, Dr. Michael A. Gragasin’s research on “Design, Testing, and Evaluation of Compact Rice Mill with Impeller Huller” bagged bronze award in the Applied Research TG/IG - Agriculture Category. The said paper won gold award for Best R&D Poster.

The BAR-NRS is an annual prestigious event for researchers and their work to be recognized with awards and citations. It aims to seek out high impact researches that can contribute to the achievement of the DA’s goals and objectives.

This year, BAR received 134 research paper entries. Only 24 research paper entries were able to compete for the AFMA Best R&D Paper.
