PHilMech hones intermediaries on cacao technologies

A total of 48 intermediaries from different government agencies namely Department of Science and Technology (Regions 1, 2, 3, 4b, 5, 8 and CAR), Department of Trade and Industry (Regions 3, 4a, 7 and CAR), Provincial Local Government Units (Aurora, Albay, Cagayan, Cam Sur, Iloilo, Laguna, Ilocos Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Pangasinan, Quezon, Quirino and Sorsogon) and State Universities and Colleges (Southern Leyte State University) completed the Online Training Course on Cacao Postharvest Technologies and By-Product Utilization on September 16-17, 2020. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge of the participants on the recent development on postharvest technologies and by-product utilization for cacao.

Developed technologies for cacao that could help the Cacao Industry as to production and postproduction (cacao processing system and by-products utilization) were presented by PHilMech technology innovators.

After the lecture-discussion, modular activities were sent to the participants for them to accomplish. Open forum after each module was included for the queries and clarifications raised by the participants.

Resource Persons were the following: Engr. Andres M. Tuates, Jr., Mr. Elijah Z. Davalos, Dr. Romualdo C. Martinez, Ms. Aileen R. Carriedo and Dr. Gigi Calica.

A technology forum was also conducted right after the training. Engr. Irish R. Arambulo presented the PHilMech Technology Transfer and Commercialization. Dr. Emelie C. Ablaza discussed the PHilMech Industrial Promotion focusing on the PHilMech Technology Licensing Protocol.
