DA-RFU personnel trained to complement BPRE engineers
by Danilo M. Gamalog (July 31, 2006)
Some 17 personnel of the DA-RFUs [Regional Field Units] recently went through a two-week training course on the testing and evaluation of postharvest facilities and equipment last April 24 to May 6.

Consisting of 15 agricultural engineers and two agriculturists, the trainees will complement the limited BPRE personnel to address the performance testing and evaluation needs of the DA regional office and the postharvest industry sector.

The training course was conducted at the Dumlao Farmers Training Center, Nueva Vizcaya State University in Bayombong. It is the second batch of specialized training for agricultural engineers from the DA-RFUs, provincial local government units, and state universities and colleges.

The trainors came from BPRE [Dr. Romualdo C. Martinez and Engr. Edgar D. Flores] and AMTEC or Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center at UP Los Banos [Engr. Darwin C. Aranguren and Engr. Romulo E. Eusebio].

The trainees are frontline implementors of agricultural enhancement programs in their respective jurisdictions.

At the end of the series of training , selected DA-RFUs with trained personnel will be provided test instruments and equipment, as their availability is an important factor on successful testing and evaluation of postharvest facilities and equipment.
