PHilMech, Techdynamics ink MOA to advance Y4M
by Alessandra Colleen S. De Guzman (August 19, 2026)
The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) and Techdynamics OPC - DJI Agriculture Philippines signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) today, August 19, to advance the agency’s Youth for Mechanization (Y4M) program, encouraging more youth to pursue agriculture through agricultural mechanization.

Both parties will promote the use of modern technologies in farming, including drones, through various Y4M activities such as boot camps, advocacy campaigns, and training courses. Through these activities, youth advocates will have the opportunity to experience operating farming machines and flying agricultural drones.

During the ceremony, PHilMech Director IV, Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, highlighted the importance of digital technologies such as drones in addressing the gap in mechanized farming, particularly in crop protection operations. He sees the Y4M program as an excellent platform to introduce the technology to farmers, as the youth can take the lead in advancing the use of such technologies in the fields.

“I believe that the Y4M program is one of the entry points for this (drone) technology to be introduced to our farmers,” said Director Alvindia.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yiyang “Alex” Sun, National Sales Director of DJI Agriculture Philippines, expressed his gratitude and shared his support for the partnership.

“We are very glad to partner with PHilMech in promoting new technology for farming. I look forward to seeing drones in our farms in the future,” Director Sun said.

Through this collaboration, DA-PHilMech and Techdynamics aim to inspire and train the next generation of farmers to become future agricultural drone pilots, with competent training courses and profitable agricultural careers in the next three years.

Also present during the MOA signing were Deputy Director Joel V. Dator, ESETS Director Engr. Ma. Resurreccion L. Altamera, Acting TMTD Chief Domingo R. Miranda, Acting ACD Chief Jett Molech G. Subaba, Techdynamics Business Development Manager Mr. Miguel Carlo M. Apruebo, Techdynamics Marketing Specialist Adrian Reyes, and Thakral One Sales Manager Mr. Jay Ranola.
