PHilMech, Partners hold press conference at the 2026 Mechanization Roadshow in Kalinga
by Pia Sarina M. Fukasawa (July 28, 2026)
PHilMech, together with its partner agencies, officially kicked off the 2026 Mechanization Roadshow through a press conference held at the Kalinga Sports Center Conference Hall in Tabuk City on July 28, bringing together government officials and members of the media to discuss the event’s objectives and the role of agricultural mechanization in improving farm productivity.

The media briefing was attended by Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary Arnel V. de Mesa, PHilMech Director IV Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, DA-CAR Regional Technical Director Engr. Danilo Daguio, Mr. Philip Kim of FitCorea Trading Phils. Inc., and representatives from the Provincial Government of Kalinga. Members of the media from Guru Press Cordillera, PIA-Kalinga, Radyo Natin Tabuk, Radyo Pilipinas Tabuk, and the Tabuk City Public Information Office also participated.

During the discussion, Director Alvindia emphasized that successful farm mechanization in the province depends on matching the right machines with farmers’ needs.
“For mechanization to become efficient, you should have a larger paddy area. We can do that by providing the right machinery with specialized and customized components. For example, in tractors, we are aiming to have more utilities per tractor.”

Director Alvindia also addressed concerns regarding unused machinery distributed to some farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs). He assured the media that PHilMech strictly monitors machinery utilization through its provincial focal persons, who validate reports and issue show-cause orders to cooperatives found not using the equipment. Cooperatives that fail to justify non-utilization may be required to pay the full value of the machinery, as provided in their agreement with PHilMech.

He encouraged the public and the media to report verified cases of idle machinery, stressing that timely reporting enables the agency to take appropriate action. He also thanked the media for raising the issue and assured them that PHilMech’s provincial focal persons are available to receive reports and facilitate necessary interventions.

The 2026 Mechanization Roadshow, held on July 28–29 in Tabuk City, showcases modern agricultural machinery and technologies through exhibits, technical presentations, and field demonstrations to promote greater mechanization adoption and improve agricultural productivity across the country.
