PHilMech, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) of the Republic of Korea, FIT Corea Trading Phils., Inc., the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office of the Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR), the Provincial Local Government Unit of Kalinga, Kalinga State University (KSU) and the City Local Government Unit of Tabuk, officially launched the Mechanization Roadshow 2026 today, July 28, in Tabuk City, Kalinga. The two-day event runs until July 29.

With the theme "Innovating Cordillera Farms: Bridging Indigenous Heritage with Appropriate Smart Mechanization," the roadshow serves as a platform to promote the adoption of modern and appropriate agricultural machinery by showcasing innovative technologies that can improve farm productivity and efficiency. It also provides farmers, agricultural stakeholders, local government units, and industry partners the opportunity to explore mechanization solutions suited to the region's agricultural landscape.

Participating companies from Korea include the Korea Rural Community Corporation, TYM Corporation, WeCan Global Co., Ltd., Leehwa Industry Co., Ltd., Sungboo Co., Ltd., Bulls Company Ltd., Asia Technology Co., Ltd., and Shin Pung Co., Ltd. Also participating is a local company from Pampanga, the St. Joseph Agrimarketing Corp.

The holding of the 11th Mechanization Roadshow in Kalinga underscores the province's vital role in Philippine agriculture and its strong potential for advancing farm mechanization.

In his opening message, PHilMech Director IV Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia emphasized his joy in doing the Mechanization Roadshow at the rice granary of the Cordilleras–the Province of Kalinga: “With your expansive rice fields and rich land, you are undeniably the biggest contributor to the region’s rice sufficiency and food security as a whole.”

Throughout the two-day event, participants will engage in interactive discussions, machinery exhibits, live field demonstrations, and media and stakeholder briefings at the Kalinga Sports Center and the Kalinga State University Demonstration Farm.

Highlighting the value of the roadshow, Director Alvindia encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity to learn about the latest agricultural technologies.

“This exposure will allow you to appreciate the extensive range of mechanization solutions that can be fitting for boosting your local agricultural production in the province, then in the region, then in the country as a whole. We need such roadshows to create in us the urge to dream more and attain more in terms of our pursuit of national food security,” he added.

Among the featured technologies are four-wheel tractors with various implements, a precision rice seeder, a village-type rice mill, and a brown rice mill. The roadshow also highlights machinery and equipment such as corn mill, fruit and vegetable dryer, lifting machine, boom sprayer, truck-mounted sprayer, wall sprayer, and hose reel sprayer.

Demonstrating their support for the initiative, officials from key government agencies and partner organizations attended the opening program, led by DA Assistant Secretary Arnel V. de Mesa, PHilMech Director IV Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, PHilMech Director III Joel V. Dator, DA-CAR Technical Director for Operations Engr. Danilo P. Daguio, FIT Corea President Philip Kim, Korean delegates Mr. Lee Seok Jin and Mr. Seung Il Hong, as well as representatives from the local government units of Tabuk, Apayao, and Kalinga.
